1848- Mott and Stanton host the Seneca Falls Convention in Seneca Falls, New York
1851- Amelia Bloomer popularizes the "bloomers"

1867- Mott, Stanton, and Anthony form the Equal Rights Association (ERA)
1870- The ERA divides into two groups. The National Women Suffrage Association (NWSA) is formed and organized by Stanton and Anthony.
Later this year, Lucy Stone and her husband form the American Women Suffrage Association (AWSA).
The Wyoming territory becomes the first to grant women the right to vote.
1872- Susan B. Anthony illegally votes in Rochester, New York.
1874- Women march to the nearest saloon in Hillsboro, Ohio for the first time, begging the saloonkeepers to close their business.
The Women's National Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) is formed.
1890- The NWSA and the AWSA merge together to form the National-American Women's Suffrage Association (NAWSA).
1893- Lucy Stone dies
1895- Carrie Chapman Catt takes the presidency of the NAWSA
1902- Elizabeth Cady Stanton dies
1906- Anna Howard Shaw becomes president of the NAWSA
Susan Brownell Anthony dies
1910- The first Fifth Avenue Parade is held by Harriet Stanton Blatch's Woman's Political Union
1912- Alice Paul forms the Congressional Union, later known as the Woman's Party
1915- Catt becomes president of the NAWSA yet again
1917- Paul starts her White House picketing
World War I begins
1919- The House of Representatives votes on women's suffrage, it passes
The Senate votes on women's suffrage, it doesn't pass
The House of Representatives and the Senate vote again, this time passing in both
1920- Tennessee becomes the 36th state to grant women's suffrage, ratifying the 19th amendment nationwide and allowing women to vote
